“I have Butterflies In My Stomach” Taylor Swift Narrates The first Night In Travis Kelce’s Arm Throughout the NIGHT

While Travis Kelce might be a tight end on the field, on dates he plays defensive line. (Yes, I looked up football terms for this opening!) As many a Swiftie has noticed, Taylor Swift’s current boy pal recently opened a car door for the Grammy winner, which wouldn’t be such a big deal if it weren’t for the fact that he specifically asked her security team to step aside so he could do it.

In a video from a recent outing in New York City, Kelce can be seen lightly tapping one of Swift’s protectors, and after he steps out of the way, the Super Bowl winner opens the door and takes Swift’s hand to help her out of the SUV. The general reaction from the fandom has been “This is really great!” which shows you how low the bar is for men.

But Jason Kelce, Travis’s brother, a fellow football star and cohost of their podcast New Heights, thought his brother was being not gentlemanly but…aggressive? In the latest episode of their pod, Jason asked Travis about “pushing” the guard, as recapped by Page Six, to which the Chiefs player responded, “I didn’t push. I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him…. If I would have pushed him, he probably would have turned around and tased me.”

Yeah, he knows which play to run! The security team is, obviously, there to protect Tay, so Kelce was careful not to accidentally come off like an overzealous fan. He called the team “good people” and described the subtext of his action as “Good sir, would you excuse me? I need to get the door. Sorry. Right behind you. Don’t want to startle you. I know it’s your job to keep crazy people away and if you get randomly pushed in the back while standing in front of a door, that could probably be a little alarming.” Thoughtful!

In the same episode, Kelce explained that this is how he is on dates, describing himself as “protective for sure”: “I feel like whenever I’m on a date, I’m always having the sense [that] I’m a man in the situation.”

On the lighter side, he also admitted that he had been “caught” in “weird hand-holding poses.” Which…yeah.

Travis Kelce’s job is just…Ball.
