Travis Kelce told Taylor Swift's security, they can step aside

Anyone looking to approach Taylor Swift at a restaurant or club might want to pay attention to the 6-foot-5, 250-pound NFL player on her arm.

Travis Kelce told Taylor Swift's security, they can step aside

Kansas City Chiefs tight end and podcaster Travis Kelce opened up about his romance with the pop queen during his latest episode of New Heights, admitting to brother Jason that he feels ‘protective’ of Swift when they’ve been out on dates together.

Of course, Swift already has a team of security guards protecting her, one of whom was brushed off by Travis on Saturday.

After the All-Pro tight end and the singer appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, they were seen exiting an SUV together in Manhattan. Only instead of allowing Swift’s security to open her door, the mustachioed Travis ran around the vehicle and gently herded the guard in the other direction before handling the honors himself.

‘Did you get any pushback for [pushing security] out of the way?’ asked Jason, a Philadelphia Eagles center.

Pushing them out of the way?!’ the incredulous younger brother responded.

‘I mean it’s on camera, Travis,’ Jason said.

Travis offered a full-throated defense of his intentions: ‘I didn’t push him. I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him. If I would have pushed him, he probably would have turned around and tased me.’

Jason remained skeptical as Travis began to embellish.

‘Good sir, will you excuse me?’ Travis joked. ‘I need to get the door. Sorry. Thank you. I’m right behind you. Don’t want to startle you. I know it’s your job to keep crazy people away and if you just randomly get pushed in the back, while standing in front of a door, that can probably be a little alarming.’

But Jason wasn’t finished.

‘Do you feel like a security guard when you’re with Taylor?’ Jason asked.

‘I feel like when I’m on a date I feel the sense of: ‘I’m a man in this situation; I’m protective,’ Travis said. ‘Yeah, for sure. You always kind of have that feeling or that self-awareness I guess.’

Jason then took the opportunity to interrogate his brother about his seating arrangements with Swift.

‘What seat do you choose?’ asked Jason. ‘It’s your job to protect Taylor, so it’s your job to have the best view.’

‘No, you just got to know where the exits are,’ Travis said.

But Jason had apparently put much more thought into the subject.

‘Preferably a seat against a wall so that you can observe everything that’s happening,’ Jason said.

Now it was Travis’ turn to be skeptical.

‘No way you’re doing this,’ he said.

‘Ask Kylie,’ Jason said, referring to his wife. ‘I do not like being seated in the middle of a room. I only like being seated up against a wall.’

Travis poked fun at his older brother by saying ‘noted,’ and asking if he’s ever had a security team.

No, I mean, I’m the security,’ the 6-foot-3, 282-pound Jason said.

‘Oh, if you get security, you could probably go right in the middle of the room,’ laughed Travis.

The two brothers are about a month away from a Super Bowl rematch, meaning they will be playing against each other for just the fourth time in their respective careers.

Taylor has been seen in red at Travis’ Chiefs games, suggesting she’s supporting Kansas City, but the Philadelphia native did previously admit to being an Eagles fan.

Ultimately, she may need to take a page out of Donna Kelce’s playbook: Jason and Travis’ mom wore a custom Chiefs-Eagles jersey at February’s Super Bowl, which Kansas City won.
