Gisele Bündchen is getting candid about her 2022 divorce from Tom Brady, which she previously called the “death of my dream.”
In the teaser video for her upcoming sitdown with Robin Roberts, Bündchen was asked about that specific quote and her divorce. Roberts wondered how Bündchen is doing now, a year and a half after her divorce was finalized, and the supermodel got emotional.
Bündchen put on a brave face in trying to answer, but turned away from the camera, asking, “Can I have a little moment?”
Bündchen, 43, and Brady, 46, finalized their divorce in October 2022, shortly after announcing their decision to split after 13 years of marriage. In an April 2023 interview with Vanity Fair, she denied that Brady’s football career was the downfall of their marriage.
She called the buzz “very hurtful” and “the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.” Bündchen continued of her ex-husband, “Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever.”
“If there’s one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me,” she added. “I want him to achieve and to conquer. I want all his dreams to come true. That’s what I want, really, from the bottom of my heart.”
In the teaser for Bündchen’s upcoming “IMPACT x Nightline: Gisele Bündchen: Climbing the Mountain,” she also touched on where her love life stands now.
Roberts asked her if she’ll be able to “open up your heart again to someone,” which Bündchen sort of shrugged off with a small smile on her face. She added, “Where my heart is now is where I am right now. I’m living my truth, and I’m not apologizing for it.”
Following the divorce, Bündchen, who shares daughter Vivian, 11, and son Benjamin, 14 with Brady, grew close with the family’s jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, and a source confirmed to PEOPLE in February that the two have been dating since June.
“They’re taking it slow. They started out as great friends first. She’s very private about this and wanted to keep it quiet while they got to know each other,” a source told PEOPLE.
A second source confirmed that Bündchen and her family’s jiu-jitsu instructor’s feelings toward each other developed over time after initially having a platonic relationship.
“They started out as friends,” the second source told PEOPLE. “He was a huge comfort for Gisele while she went through her divorce. Their friendship turned romantic after the divorce.”
“IMPACT x Nightline: Gisele Bündchen: Climbing the Mountain” will be available to stream on March 7 on Hulu.
