Only Woman on Tennessee’s Death Row Wakes Up After Failed Lethal Injection
DEATH-ROW SHOCKER: Tennessee Woman Survives TWO Lethal Injections, Rushed to Hospital
Christa Pike, 50, remained alive after Tennessee officials administered two doses of the lethal-injection drug pentobarbital during an attempted execution Wednesday night. Witnesses reported that Pike was still breathing and later heard snoring before she was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Pike was scheduled to become the first woman executed by Tennessee in more than 200 years. The state has since halted further executions for the year and ordered an independent review of what happened.
