The Vikings went three an out on their next possession, and KC punished them getting into the endzone on back to back drives. This time Mahomes found Kelce who came back in the middle of the third quarter. The duo connected on this 4 yard TD pass as Kelce led all KC receivers with 67 yards and a TD, while Mahomes ended the night 31/41/ for 281 yards and 2 TDs.

Just a few plays later it was Mahomes finding Rashee Rice on the slant pattern to give the Chiefs the 20-13 lead.

On the opening possession of the second half, the Chiefs had 3rd down from deep in their own territory and Mahomes launched up a prayer that was answered by Justin Watson. That play would allow the Chiefs to go down and retake the lead early in the second half.

Late in the first half, Travis Kelce went down untouched after landing awkwardly on his ankle and it didn’t look good as the Chiefs TE had to go to the locker room with time remaining on the clock.

KC weren’t the only ones who saw their star go down with injury. Justin Jefferson had to exit the game with an apparent hamstring injury late in the game as the Vikings were forced to try to make the comeback without the best WR in the league.

Soon after the fake punt conversion, Kirk Cousins found Jordan Addison in the back of the end zone for the 5 yard TD catch. The Vikings might have scored too soon, because they left KC time to go down and kick a field goal before the end of the second quarter, tying the game up at 13-13.

The Vikings responded after the early turnover, kicking two field goals, but they would take the lead late in the first half after a gutsy call on 4th down. The fans actually booed when the FG unit came out, but coach Kevin O’Connell had a trick up his sleeve.

Times are a changing in KC. It used to be Mahomes and the massive pass attack of the Chiefs offense. Now Kansas City is winning games making big plays on the defensive end and running the ball with Isaiah Pacheco. The second year RB had 55 yards and this TD from a yard out to start the day in Minnesota.

On the very first play from scrimmage the Vikings Josh Oliver coughs up the football, and it looked like Minnesota was in for a long night. They came into the game as the team with the most committed turnovers through four weeks, and this fumble was their 7th giveaway in the first quarter this season.
