Novak Djokovic came back to the US after a last season ban with a big win, in an epic match win in Cincinnati against Carlos Alcaraz. Before winning yet another ATP Masters 1000 of his career, the Serbian champion was the protagonist of a funny promotional video about the Western & Southern Open.

Djokovic talked about some amusing photographs from the past, joking about his wife Jelena, but also about his doubles with Andy Murray, in 2006. About the first pic, Novak Djokovic revealed that he and his wife Jelena were still in the early stages of their relationship: “Okay.

Okay. Who is this handsome lady with this guy? What is she doing with this guy? This was a photo shoot and it was very enjoyable. I didn’t t look so bad. It was still the first few years of our relationship. I was tryna win her over I guess, charm her!” Nole also talked about the Australian Open 2006, the only occasion in which he played doubles with his friend and rival Andy Murray: “Oh the famous doubles partner in the Australian Open Andy Murray and myself.

It is the only doubles we played with each other actually in professional tennis. So it was nice. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance to play again. Andy and I go back very long time. We were I think 11 or 12 years old when we played each other for the first time and it’s only a week difference between us age wise so yeah we kind of went on the same trajectory to professional tennis pretty much parallel with each other.”

Nole on his win over Carlitos, in Cincinnati
Nole analyzed the match, saying: “We put together a crazy match.

I don’t think I’ve played many matches like this in my life. Maybe I can compare it to the final with Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open in 2012. Obviously we’re talking about a best of three sets match in this case, but it lasted almost four hours.

It was one of the toughest games mentally, emotionally and physically I’ve ever played in my career. I started better, but then I struggled physically on the court. Alcaraz was up by a set and a break, but he had a bad serve game and I thought I had a chance.

I fought and believed I could do it. In the third set I had many chances; Carlos was incredible on the second match point.Alcaraz no longer surprises me now. The way he has won some big games is impressive.”
