1 spot with Novak Djokovic, standing 500 ATP points behind the Serb ahead of the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals. Two great rivals will compete at both events and maybe we can witness another thriller between them. Alcaraz claimed his second Major title at Wimbledon, standing at the top but losing ground in the last couple of months.

The Spaniard experienced five losses after The All England Club, staying on six ATP titles in 2023.

Carlos Alcaraz is ready to play in Paris and Turin.
Alcaraz had a chance to pass Novak Djokovic in the ATP Race during the Chinese swing, competing in this country for the first time.

Instead, the young Spaniard left Beijing and Shanghai with a modest 270 ATP points on his tally, earning only five wins and missing an opportunity to improve his year-end no. 1 chances. Competing for the first time since the US Open, Alcaraz fell to Jannik Sinner in the Beijing semi-final, losing ground in the second set and hoping for a better run in Shanghai.

The young gun experienced an early Shanghai Masters loss to Grigor Dimitrov, missing a chance to fight for 1000 ATP points and the ATP Race lead. The Bulgarian ousted the Spaniard 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in two hours and ten minutes.

Alcaraz played well in the opening set’s final stage, stealing it but losing ground in sets two and three. Grigor served well and kept the pressure on the other side, earning four breaks from five opportunities and celebrating a rare top-2 triumph.

Instead of competing in Basel and chasing 500 ATP points, Alcaraz withdrew due to injuries and spent a couple of days away from the court. The youngster is back with his training sessions, working hard and hoping to challenge Djokovic in the upcoming events with 2500 ATP points up for grabs!

Carlos finished the previous season as world no. 1, writing history books and becoming the youngest player to achieve that since the start of the ATP ranking in 1973.
