According to a friend of the couple who spoke to Page Six, the marriage has been over for some time now and, having made progress on the terms, they are sure that there is no turning back and that the time to announce it would be at the end of the summer.
The couple’s close friend told Page Six that they both got carried away in 2022 with the nostalgia and doubts they were left with when they broke off their first engagement back in 2004. “They got caught up in the moment. Jennifer had wanted this wedding – the gowns, the friends, all the trappings and trimmings – for decades,” one source told Page Six.
“They’ve turned the page on all the unfinished business of 20 plus years ago. They’ve seen things through to the end and they know for sure now that they are not built for the long haul. The same source reports that the divorce could be “the most elaborate and expensive exercise in closure ever”.
