Their impending separation will have a domino effect on their loved ones — Lopez’s children with ex Marc Anthony, Affleck’s children with ex Jennifer Garner — as they try to sort through the messy realities of divorce.
Lopez and Violet Affleck, Ben’s oldest daughter with Garner, have developed a tight bond in recent years. Violet has reportedly expressed the hope that her father and her stepmother can work out their differences and stay together — but in the absence of reconciliation, Violet could feasibly face some difficulty staying in touch with JLo.
Even though her marriage to “Gone Girl” star Affleck is disintegrating, “Let’s Get Loud” singer Lopez and Violet alike are prioritizing their own relationship and will continue speaking to each other even after the divorce. It was no coincidence recently when Violet stepped out in a Dolce & Gabbana dress that Lopez famously wore on a date with Affleck in 2023 — it was a statement to everyone, including her father.
“She got extremely close to JLo over the past couple of years, and it broke her heart when they split,” an insider revealed about Violet to the Daily Mail. For Ben’s part, he is reportedly unconcerned that Violet wants to maintain a relationship with Lopez. A source told Entertainment Tonight that Ben does not want to cause strain between his soon-to-be-ex and his eldest daughter, who also has close ties with Lopez’s twins Max and Emme.
However, 18-year-old Violet’s real wish would be for marital harmony, and it doesn’t seem like that is going to happen. “Violet is an adult and can have relationships with anyone she chooses,” an insider told the Daily Mail. “Unfortunately for her, wearing JLo’s dress in public is not going to affect Ben’s divorce at all.”
