Breaking: The bottle of champagne Taylor Swift was holding at the Grammy is Jay-Z’s Armand de Brignac, sold for $100k per bottle at the XS nightclub in Las Vegas’ Encore casino and they bring it to all the shows they go to
We all know that Taylor Swift is one to get up for an awards show — literally. The Grammy nominee is a fixture at ceremonies, dancing in the crowd, but she truly outdid herself with this one.
It was obvious early on that Swift was there to have fun, no matter how the trophy situation shook out. She was first on her feet when Billie Eilish performed “Birds of a Feather.” She had her arms all over the place — and was playfully flipping around Margaret Qualley’s dress — when Sabrina Carpenter performed a medley of “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” (Swift especially seemed to like her former tour opener’s tap-dance moment.)
Swift kept that same energy throughout the show, even in the categories she lost. When Kendrick Lamar took home Song of the Year and Record of the Year for the Drake diss-track “Not Like Us,” Swift was among the first stars celebrating. She was also among the more than 10,000 people in the crowd to sing along to Lamar’s infamous “trying to strike a chord and it’s probably A minor” line.
Nothing got as big of a reaction from the crowd as when Cowboy Carter was announced the Album of the Year. The place exploded as Beyoncé has notoriously been shut out of winning the Grammys top prize year after year. Her fellow nominees — Swift, Roan, Carpenter — and everyone else in the room were on their feet cheering on the superstar. People were heard yelling all over the place.
More than once, the Grammys announcer during commercial breaks had to corral the famous crowd. Before the insane Best New Artists Medley, he repeatedly asked stars to “sit in your seats” and “look toward the screen.” After the performances, a lot of people wanted to mingle again. “We really need you to take a seat [we’re] giving out Best New Artist,” he said, sounding like Oz.
