Blake Lively, a well-known Taylor Swift fan, recently brought her love for the pop star into her latest film role. While promoting It Ends With Us, Lively drew parallels between her character, Lily Bloom, and various Taylor Swift “eras,” describing how different phases of Swift’s career align with Lily’s journey in the movie.
In an interview with Hits Radio, Lively was asked to associate her character with three Swift eras. She chose Fearless, Lover, and Reputation. Lively explained, “Fearless represents Lily when she’s younger, or maybe Red, because there’s a bit more life experience there. But definitely Fearless for when she first meets Ryle.”
She went on to say, “Lover captures the romantic phase, and then Reputation aligns with the more challenging times in Lily’s life. It’s almost like the ‘Tortured Poets Department’ phase at the end.” Lively also highlighted the significance of The Tortured Poets Department, an anthology album by Swift released in April 2024.
“What’s beautiful about this era is that it captures all of Taylor’s different storytelling genres. It’s like a culmination of everything she’s been through, which mirrors Lily’s experiences,” Lively noted. Lively’s connection with Taylor Swift goes beyond admiration for her music; the two are close friends. They were recently spotted together at Super Bowl LVIII, cheering on Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Swift has also referred to herself as the godmother of Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ children. In May 2024, Lively and Reynolds attended Swift’s Eras Tour in Madrid with their three daughters, further showcasing their close relationship.
Lively’s career has been marked by both television and film success. Best known for her role in Gossip Girl, she has also starred in movies like The Age of Adaline, The Shallows, and A Simple Favor. Lively has even collaborated directly with Swift, co-writing and directing the music video for “I Bet You Think About Me.”
