Kate Hudson talks about Taylor Swift in her latest interview: “Taylor’s done something so amazing, which is that she’s never wavered from her conviction. No matter what everyone’s laid on her, she’s just continued to strive forward. And she really is an exceptional writer. Her icon status is so deserved.”

Kate Hudson has nothing but flowers for Taylor Swift. The actress and singer is praising the “Cruel Summer” singer, saying “her icon status is so deserved” in a new interview.
“Taylor’s done something so amazing, which is that she’s never wavered from her conviction,” said Hudson, 45. “No matter what everyone’s laid on her, she’s just continued to strive forward. And she really is an exceptional writer. Her icon status is so deserved.”
She also revealed that her 6-year-old daughter, Rani Rose, is a “hardcore” Swiftie, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times published Friday, Feb. 21. “We went to the Eras tour. She tried so hard to stay up but halfway through she was in my arms. It was late,” Hudson said. “I saw the show a few times, including the finale in Vancouver.”
Hudson’s daughter isn’t the only member of her family that’s a superfan of Swift and caught her tour finale. “My sister-in-law was there,” Hudson said. “She’s such a Swiftie that it’s almost uncomfortable [laughs]. But I get it: Taylor’s done something so amazing, which is that she’s never wavered from her conviction. No matter what everyone’s laid on her, she’s just continued to strive forward. And she really is an exceptional writer.”
Hudson previously praised Swift during an appearance on SiriusXM’s channel The Pulse for the broadcast company’s ongoing Guest DJ Campaign.
In the new interview, she also singled out Swift’s collaboration with former One Direction member Zayn, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” featuring production by Jack Antonoff. “There’s something about the production of that song — the way he plays with pulling it back,” Hudson said. “I listen to music like a dancer, so it’s how my body responds to it.”
As a singer herself who released her debut album, Glorious, in 2024, Hudson knows a thing or two about the music business. She’s perhaps best known for her breakout role as groupie Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe’s 2000 rock ‘n’ roll coming-of-age story Almost Famous. She’s also got some close family ties in the music world. Her biological father is Bill Hudson, a member of the ‘70s pop trio the Hudson Brothers, and she’s also had headline-making romances with the Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson and Muse singer Matt Bellamy, both of whom share a son with Hudson.
Her current fiancé, Danny Fujikawa, helped write and record her album along with noted producer Linda Perry. He’s also the father of Hudson’s 6-year-old daughter.
