Swift’s gigs in Austria were cancelled after terror plot was foiled. Ticket prices for Taylor Swift’s upcoming concerts at Wembley Stadium in London have skyrocketed by nearly 2,000 percent as fans scramble to secure last-minute seats.
This surge in prices follows the cancellation of her shows at Vienna’s Ernst-Happel-Stadion, originally scheduled for August 8, 9, and 10, due to a foiled terrorist plot. Initially, tickets for the London concerts ranged from 58 pounds for restricted view seats to 110 pounds for general admission standing.
However, resale platforms like Viagogo, Vividseats, StubHub, and Gigsberg now list standing tickets as high as 6,515 pounds, with the cheapest available at 416 pounds, according to figures obtained by Coinpoker.com. Swift is set to perform in London from August 15 to 20, with each show expecting an audience of 90,000. The Vienna concerts were canceled after a 19-year-old Islamic State supporter, identified as Beran A, allegedly planned a terror attack at the venue.
Austrian media reported that the suspect intended to use a vehicle to run over concert-goers before attacking with knives and machetes, followed by detonating a bomb. The plot, which was to take place around 4 p.m. when approximately 65,000 fans were expected in the area, was thwarted by authorities.
