Travis Scott has shockingly been arrested at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as the rapper was detained for fighting outside of his five-star hotel just hours after LeBron James’ victory over Serbia in the men’s basketball semi-finals.
Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was arrested in the early hours of Friday, August 9 after getting into a physical altercation with a security agent before local law enforcement broke them apart. “Policemen were called to the Georges V hotel,” a statement from the Paris Prosecutor’s Office read. “And arrested Travis Scott for violence against a security agent.
“The latter had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard.” Scott, who has 68.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, was taking into custody outside of the the George V Hotel in the French capital’s eighth arrondissement (district) around 05:00 CET according to local media.
According to local police, he was drunk at the time of his arrest which happened yards away from the iconic Champs-Elysees landmark in the capital of the European nation which has welcomed the world for the Summer Games. “He was not in the right condition to be questioned straight away,” a source apparently told DailyMail.com of Scott. “So he was put in a cell, where he is still sobering up.
“[He’s suspected of] violence against another person, and is being held in a cell.” Scott, who is in town to watch the United States bid for men’s basketball glory against France on August 10, has now been arrested for a second time in 2024 after an incident earlier this year on a boat in Miami.
The 33-year-old was detained following a “disturbance on a yacht”, was reportedly drunk there too and spent the night at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after being booked in at 04:35 on June 20.
