Fans of pop superstar Taylor Swift are in tears over the heartbreaking, ‘special’ coincidence of her new boyfriend Travis Kelce’s birthday — which just so happens to be the same day as…..More in the comments
The planets and the fates and all the stars always seem to align for the “Mastermind” herself, Taylor Swift — and choosing Travis Kelce as her new boyfriend seems to be evidence of just that.
As the American football star’s birthday recently passed, so too did another significant anniversary in Taylor’s life — the birthday of her late grandmother, opera singer Marjorie. The rest, as they say, is history. And now, Marjorie’s memory is immortalised in a song Taylor wrote for her second quarantine album “evermore,” simply titled “marjorie.” It details the lessons her grandmother taught her and the memories she has of the esteemed television personality.
“Never be so kind, you forget to be clever / Never be so clever, you forget to be kind,” the song begins, referencing just one of the lessons Marjorie taught the “Anti-Hero” singer.
The bridge contains the heartwrenching lyrics: “I should’ve asked you questions / I should’ve asked you how to be / Asked you to write it down for me / Should’ve kept every grocery store receipt / ‘Cause every scrap of you would be taken from me / Watched as you signed your name Marjorie / All your closets of backlogged dreams / And how you left them all to me.”
Her “closets of backlogged dreams” really were left to Taylor — and Taylor fulfilled them for her grandmother. And many fans are arguing that by meeting and dating Travis, not every scrap of Marjorie was taken from Taylor, either.
Ironically, and likely on purpose, “marjorie” is the 13th track on “evermore.” The number 13, seen by many as an unlucky number, has always been Taylor’s favoured figure — an ode to the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker’s own birthday, which falls on December 13.
